Best Buy has an immediate opening at its Richfield, Minnesota, corporate headquarters for an attorney to serve in the position of Senior Corporate Counsel - Intellectual Property: Trademarks. This attorney's role will be focused on strategy development and management of Best Buy's trademark portfolio.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include:

- Strategy Development for Best Buy's domestic and international trademark portfolio.
- Management of clearance, prosecution, maintenance and enforcement for Best Buy's trademark portfolio.
- Integrating and partnering with Best Buy internal business clients to understand and meet their business objectives and legal needs with respect to trademark matters.
- Advising Best Buy internal business clients on various legal matters and risks related to trademark matters.
- Drafting and negotiating agreements.
- Consulting and advising on trademark aspects of commercial agreements, and supporting due diligence projects as they relate to trademarks.
- Management of outside counsel and internal budgets.
- Client education and training on trademark matters.
- Traveling as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

- JD degree and admitted to practice law in at least one state
- 8 or more years of demonstrated work experience with a law firm and/or a major corporation
- 5 or more years of demonstrated trademark experience
- Superior written and oral communication skills with ability to communicate across all levels of an organization
- Highly professional and adept at finding creative and practical solutions
- Independent decision maker

Preferred Qualifications:
- Multi-brand retail experience
- International trademark experience
