Birth Parents and Foster Care - Adoption.com Forums

I got quite a lot of information about both of my children's birth parents. My daughter's birth mother had a long history with CPS and I got all the information that they had on her, including a picture. She went MIA 2 days after my daughter was born, so openness was not an option. My daughter's birth father was unknown so I didn't get any information on him.

I got information on my son's birth parents' educational and professional background, plus the reasons why my son and his siblings were in care. I had an option of meeting them and I did, both when he was initially placed with me and again at the goodbye visit. Both of my son's parents have respectable professional careers and often are written about in the local paper or professional publications, so I can get information that way too. To be honest, though, as time has gone by, I've lost interest in looking them up. Whether or not to have an open adoption was my choice and I choose not to.

I did not do lifebooks since both of my kids came to me very young. I do have a few pictures of my son with his birth family, though. Since my kids are only 3 months apart in age, I do frequently have to explain that they are adopted. I don't mind, however, because I love to tell people about foster care adoption.
